Kent Rotherham was recently sworn in as the Peoria County auditor, taking over from Carol VanWinkle, who resigned on Dec. 31 following his appointment to the position at a previous Peoria County board meeting.
Rotherham, a certified public accountant (CPA), runs his own accounting firm in the city, which he established 25 years ago. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accountancy from the University of Illinois and has nearly four decades of experience in the industry, including extensive experience in audit services for governments, corporations and not-for-profits. He will serve a term running through Nov. 30, 2018.
Rotherham has a record of service in the Peoria community, including time on the Peoria County Emergency Telephone System board and Peoria Sanitary District board as well as a six-year stint as the Peoria County Democratic Central Committee treasurer. He currently sits on boards at Gold Star Families of America and the Springfield Cemetery.
"I am very pleased with our choice of auditor," County Board Chairman Andrew Rand said. "He is extremely well qualified for the position, and I have every confidence in his ability to run the office."
