The Brimfield Community Unit School District 309 Board of Education met Jan. 18 to approve course changes.
Here are the meeting's minutes, as provided by the board:
January 18, 2017
The Brimfield Board of Education held its regular board meeting on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the high school library. Heinz called the meeting to order with the following members present: Graham, Hoerr, Bauer, Moon, Johnson, Harmon.
All board candidates were given the opportunity to address the members of the audience to explain a little about themselves, and their purpose for running on the board.
Harmon moved and Bauer seconded to approve the minutes of the curriculum meeting of December 15, 2016, and regular board meeting of December 21, 2016. Motion carried
Mr. Heinz recognized Dave Wiltz, Buffy Stewart and bus driver Steve Short for their commitment to the students and school.
Mr. Richardson reported on his board report (on file in the Unit office). He also indicated that February 7, 2017 is Freshman Orientation at the high school.
Mrs. Blane reported on her board report (on file in the Unit office).
Johnson moved and Bauer seconded to adopt the resolution approving prevailing wages for 2017. Motion carried
Harmon moved and Moon seconded to approve the contract with Gorenz & Assoc., Ltd.
Motion carried
Harmon moved, waiving the 30 day review, and Hoerr seconded to amend policy 108.2 Emergency Procedure for Calling Off School or Delayed Start/Early Dismissal. Motion carried
Harmon moved and Johnson seconded to approve the senior class trip to Chicago, IL on April 27, 2017. Motion carried
Johnson moved and Moon seconded to approve the course changes (on file in the Unit office) beginning in the 2017-2018 school year. Motion carried
Bauer moved and Graham seconded to approve the graduation of Joel Doty at the end of the 1st Semester of the 2016-2017 school year. Motion carried
Moon moved and Johnson seconded to approve the consent calendar items presented, which included the following items: bills for payment for the month of January, Position and Treasurers report for the month of December, and grade school and high school activity reports for December. Roll call: Graham – yes, Hoerr – yes, Bauer – yes, Moon – yes, Johnson – yes, Harmon – yes, Heinz – yes. Motion carried
Harmon moved and Bauer seconded to accept the resignation, with gratitude for time served, of Daniel Underwood High School Custodian. Motion carried
Mr. Molleck was given the floor to address the board regarding several problems that he felt had not been dealt with properly. The board directed him to put his questions in writing for the administration and board members to review. A statement will be given once the issues have been evaluated.
At 7:49 p.m. Harmon moved and Bauer seconded to adjourn. Motion carried
