OSF HealthCare and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) have reached an agreement to continue in-network quality care in the area.
All BCBSIL insurance including commercial, PPO, EPO and Blue Choice will continue coverage through 2018 with no interruptions for patients.
“We are pleased to have finalized a continuation of OSF Healthcare’s relationship with BCBSIL that ensures patients and families have in-network access to the treatments and services they need,” said Randy Billings, senior vice president of population health, in a statement. “We realize this situation caused concern for our patients and families, and appreciate the support and patience of local businesses and community leaders.”
OSF HealthCare and BCBSIL have a long-standing partnership to provide Peoria with the most affordable, quality health care. BCBSIL has awarded OSF HealthCare with many awards in the past, including the Blue Distinction Total Care and BlueStar Status.
The OSF HealthCare system has also been acknowledged by Truven, an independent healthcare analytics research company, as one of the top 20 percent of large health care systems in the country and the OSF HealthCare Children’s Hospital of Illinois is one of the top 50 pediatric facilities in the country, according to the annual U.S. News and World Report.
OSF HealthCare consists of 11 hospitals (seven acute care and four critical access) and two colleges of nursing in Illinois and Michigan.
