City of Henry City Council met Dec. 28.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

1) A Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Henry was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by the Mayor Doug Wilson, Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the River Park Center, City Council Chambers. The clerk called the roll.

Present: Alderman Fountain, Schrowang, Bergfeld, Friedrich, Karls, Keith

Also Present: Supt. of Public Works, Bill Lester,

2) Building and Grounds Chairman Friedrich reported on the committee meeting which was held Thursday, December 21, 2017 discussing replacing the backhoe. Mayor Wilson, Alderman Bergfeld, Supt. of Public Works, Bill Lester, and Water Operator, Karl Villiger visited City of Toluca to look at their John Deere backhoe. Alderman Friedrich presented the quotes on a new backhoe.

 Martin Equipment ………………. $72,950.00

 Birkeys ………………………… $71,000.00

 Althofer (no invoice)……………. $76,000.00

Alderman Schrowang stated about looking into getting a maintenance program agreement. Alderman Bergfeld made a motion and was seconded by Alderman Friedrich to approve purchasing the backhoe from Birkey’s at a cost of $71,000. Roll call

Present: Alderman Schrowang

Nays: None

Motion carried

Alderman Friedrich stated the discussing on Municipal Garage Options and Property Appraisal will be discussed in close session.

Before going into close session Alderman Karls discussed about looking into IT Computer Repair and Support. Don Goebel has retired from doing computer repairs for City Hall and the Police Department. This was not on the agenda for discussion but Alderman Karls will be doing some research and further discussion on the January 15th agenda.

3) At 6:19 pm a motion was made by Alderman Bergfeld to go into closed session and was seconded by Alderman Keith to discuss Acquisition Real Estate or Lease (5ILCS 120/2(c) for the purpose of discussing Economic Development Opportunity. Roll call.

Yeas: Alderman Fountain, Bergfled, Friedrich, Keith, Karls

Nays: None

Motion carried

8) At 7:10 pm a motion was made by Alderman Karls and seconded by Alderman Keith to go back into the special meeting. Roll call.

Yeas: Alderman Fountain, Schrowang, Bergfeld, Friedrich, Karls, Keith

Nays: None

Motion carried

9) Alderman Friedrich made a motion and was seconded by Alderman Keith to approve having the Read Property at 1400 Third Street appraised and not to exceed $1,000. Roll call.

Yeas: Alderman Fountain, Schrowang, Bergfled, Friedrich, Karls, Keith

Nays: None

Motion carried

10) At 7:14 p.m. a motion was made by Alderman Friedrich and seconded by Alderman Keith to adjourn the special meeting. Roll call.

Nays: None
