Village of Tremont Board of Trustees met March 19.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

President Todd Bong called to order this regular meeting of the Tremont Village Board at 7:00 pm, Monday, March 19, 2018, at the Tremont Village Hall.

Present: President Bong, Trustees Scott, Harding, Zuercher, Replogle, Getz, Scranton Absent: None

Village Clerk: J. Madsen Attorney: R. Wherry

Police Chief: M. Dodwell

Guests: Eric Hansen, Jim Clossen, Mary Ann Vance

Pledge of Allegiance.

Minutes:

Trustee Zuercher moved to approve the minutes for the regular meeting of March 5, 2018, and Replogle seconded.

Ayes: All Nays: None Motion carried.

Trustee Zuercher moved to approve the March 5 Executive Session minutes, and Replogle seconded.

Ayes: All Nays: None Motion carried.

Bills:

Trustee Zuercher moved to approve all bills incurred since March 5, 2018, and Scott seconded.

Ayes: All Nays: None Motion carried.

Trustee Harding moved to transfer $8,440.47 from General Savings to Police Oper- ations Checking to cover bills and payroll. Zuercher seconded.

Ayes: All Nays: None Motion carried.

President Bong informed the Board that volunteer work at the Community Center will begin on Wednesday and should be done by Friday.

Jim Closson, loss control specialist with the Illinois Municipal League, was present to remind the Board of the services offered by IML which include public works training.

Trustee Scranton reported that G.A. Rich & Sons broke ground today beginning Phase I of the Water & Sewer project. Scranton said there are maps on the village website which will show the affected areas.

The Village Board, as a whole, indicated the need for an ordinance stating the fact that, except for a few named within, alleys are not maintained by the Village.

The Zoning Board has released its updated regulations to Attorney Dick Wherry for review. Wherry was impressed with the definitions, the fencing issues, the R1A and R2A designations all of which were considered important features. The next step with the new Zoning Code Regulations will be a public hearing prior to action by the Village Board.

President Bong and Trustee Scranton urged discussion concerning a motel tax or fee to be charged by the Village if and when a motel would be constructed within the Village limits. No decisions were made.

The Board decided to dissolve the service agreement with RK Dixon on our 2011 copy machine. The fee is $732 annually.

Based on action approved by Ordinance 15-101, new water and sewer rates will go into effect May 1st of this year. The base water rate will move to $12.50 for the first 1000 gallons used and 1 and a half percent for every 1000 gallons over the first 1000 gallons. The sewer base rate will remain at $15.50 plus $1.00 for every 1000 gallons over the first 1000 gallons.

Trustee Replogle moved to adjourn to Executive Session to discuss employee benefits and compensation. Zuercher seconded.
