City of Chillicothe Public Works Committee met June 6.

Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:

The Public Works Committee met on June 6, 2018, at 4:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall.

Present: Chairman Gould, Alderman Hughes, Alderman Sharp, City Engineer Coulter

Superintendent Sutherland, Office Manager Passage

Chairman Gould called the meeting to order.

BUDGET REVIEW

Office Manager Passage presented the May, 2018 budget numbers for review.

A discussion ensued. A few items were over the monthly percentage total, however; Superintendent Sutherland explained they were one time expenditures.

SIDEWALK PROGRAM APPLICATIONS

Office Manager Passage presented two applications for the sidewalk program

Rob Aldrich 1405 Second City Share $1,000.00

Rob Aldrich 1413 Second City Share $ 970.88

Total recommended $1,970.88 leaving a balance in the program of $19,113.92

The consensus of the committee was to present the applications for approval at the June 11, 2018 council meeting.

BOAT DOCK STRIPING

A discussion was held regarding the use of the boat dock. Superintendent Sutherland explained that Alderman Jenkins approached him regarding striping an area for loading and unloading and placing a time limit on said area. Superintendent Sutherland gave the members present a copy of the current code which gave some time limits. A discussion was held regarding enforcement. After discussion, the consensus of the committee was to have the superintendent look into the situation and talk with Alderman Jenkins.

HYDRANT FLUSHING

Superintendent Sutherland stated that he has obtained a price from Brian Cline to flush the hydrants. The cost is $2,640.00. The consensus of the committee was to seek approval for the expense at the June 11, 2018 council meeting.

PROJECT UPDATE

Engineer Coulter advised the committee that the overlay bid letting is June 18. He stated that he is working with Office Manager Passage to place information on the city’s website regarding the MS4 Storm Water discharge.

OLD BUSINESS

Priority One Projects – there are on project to be brought forward at this time. Chairman Gould stated this topic could be removed.

SUMMARY

Council Agenda items – there are two agenda items that will be presented at the June 11 council meeting, which are; Sidewalk Program Applications and Hydrant Flushing.

Chairman Actions – nothing at this time

There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 5:02 p.m.
