City of Chillicothe Cemetery and Parks Committee met May 16.

Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:

Chairman Connor called the meeting to order at 4:30 pm

Present: Chairman Connor Alderman Jenkins

Alderman Gould

Also in attendance: Clerk Hurd

Superintendent of Public Works, Shawn Sutherland

Absent: None

Budget Review:

Chairman Connor reviewed the year end budget for the Cemetery and Parks. She reported that total expenditures were within budget,

Monument Relocation:

Clerk Hurd reported that she was contacted by the family of Bonnie and Bill Castella in regards to their monument layout. Clerk Hurd and the Public Works Dept. found that the original layout was done incorrectly. The Castella family would like the monument relocated. Clerk Hurd presented an estimate from Otto’s Monuments in the amount of $400.00 install a foundation and relocate the monument. It was the consensus of the committee to pay Otto’s Monuments to do the work of relocating.

Cameras:

Chairman Connor presented an estimate of $2.878.00 to install cameras at the city park and walk-through. Discussion ensued. It was the consensus of the committee to not purchase cameras at this time.

Downtown Planters:

Chairman Connor informed the committee that the owners of Ode’s requested that the planter in front of their location be moved. Alderman Connor contacted the public works department about moving it and found that the bottom of the planter is open ground. Discussion ensued. It was decided that Superintendent Sutherland get estimates to install concrete once the planter is moved and report back.

Old Business:

Shademaker Update:

Chairman Connor informed the committee that Shademakers will be having a plant raffle during Claude Elen Days.

Sycamore Trail Park:

No Report

Eagle Landing Update:

Chairman Connor introduced Keeton Barker from Troop #91. Mr. Barker gave a presentation of the Eagle Scout Project he will be coordinating at Eagle Landing. He informed the committee that 4-6ft. prairie grasses will be planted along the property line. He said the project will begin this weekend.

There being no further business, meeting adjourned at 5:15 pm.
