CITY OF EAST PEORIA POLICE DEPARTMENT: RiverFront Park general parking and handicapped parking information

Parking

City of East Peoria Police Department issued the following announcement on July 2.

Need a place to park to watch the fireworks? Here’s what you need to know, courtesy of the East Peoria Police Department.

At Walmart SuperCenter:

One parking space per vehicle.

Parking spaces are for vehicles, not lawn chairs and accessories.

Parking across multiple spaces and saving spaces is not allowed.

Vehicles can be towed at the owner’s expense.

Handicapped parking areas:

Located in the parking lot adjacent to RiverFront Park (next to Shogun Japanese Restaurant).

Available on a first come, first served basis.

Vehicles must display the proper handicapped license plate or mirror tag.

More parking info:

No RV or trailer parking is allowed in the RiverFront Park parking lot.

No parking is allowed on Conference Center Drive near the Embassy Suites hotel.

No parking is allowed on the Interstate 74 east and west flyover ramps.

Pre-fireworks road closures:

4 p.m. - Bass Pro Drive directly behind Walmart. The parking area at Bass Pro Shops will be accessible by Riverside Drive.

At 9 p.m. - Interstate 74 ramps leading to Riverside Drive, eastbound Interstate 74 exit ramp to North Main Street (Route 116), and the Bob Michel Bridge.

9:15 p.m. - Clock Tower Drive and Spinder Drive, both in The Levee District.

Do Not Bring Personal Fireworks to RiverFront Park!

Leave the fireworks display to the professionals. No fireworks of any kind, sparklers included, are allowed in RiverFront Park.

In addition, alcohol and grills, both gas and charcoal, are not allowed in the park.
