City of East Peoria issued the following announcement on July 5.
A drop box residents can use for disposal of expired and unwanted prescription and over-the-counter medications has been installed in front of the East Peoria Public Safety Building.
A repurposed mailbox, painted white and labeled as a prescription drop box, has been installed in front of the public safety building, which houses the East Peoria Police and Fire departments, at 201 W. Washington St. The box is monitored by cameras.
Accepted:
Capsules
Patches
Pills
Tablets
Medications should be removed from their containers, and the drugs should be placed in a zipped plastic bag. The drugs in the drop box will be incinerated.
Not accepted:
Aerosols such as nebulizers and asthma inhalers
Gels
Liquids such as cough syrup
Needles
