City of Eureka City Council met June 18.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

Mayor Scott Zimmer called the meeting to order and led The Pledge of Allegiance and then directed the City Clerk to call the roll. Present were Aldermen Lind, Peterson, Hinnen, Teegarden, L. Klaus, Getz, Prather and Germann. Also in attendance were Lynn Hinnen, Treasurer; Marilyn Walter, City Clerk; Melissa Brown, City Administrator; Rusty Klaus, Director of Public Works; and Chief Alex Collinge.

Moved by Hinnen, second by L. Klaus, to approve the minutes of the June 4, 2018, regular meeting of the City Council. Passed on roll call vote Hinnen, L. Klaus, Lind, Peterson, Teegarden, Getz, Prather and Germann all voting Aye.

Moved by Teegarden, second by Prather, to approve the Treasurer’s Report as presented for the month ending May 31, 2018. Passed on roll call vote with Teegarden, Prather, Lind, Peterson, Hinnen, L. Klaus, Getz and Germann all voting Aye.

The Mayor asked for public comments on any action to be taken on Agenda items. There were none.

Moved by Prather, second by Germann, to approve and pay the bills as the City’s obligation in the amount of $64,911.56. Passed on roll call vote with Prather, Germann, Lind, Peterson, Hinnen, Teegarden, L. Klaus and Getz all voting Aye.

Moved by Hinnen, second by Teegarden, to approve the Engineering Proposal from Farnsworth for the Crow/Bowald water main replacement. Farnsworth representative Justin Riese answered questions. Passed on roll call vote Hinnen, Teegarden, Lind, Peterson, L. Klaus, Getz, Prather and Germann all voting Aye.

Moved by Hinnen, second by Prather, to approve R.A. Cullinan as contractor for a total of $150,054.36 for the STU project following the State of Illinois bid letting. The State won’t be doing their resurfacing until 2023. The City will do the parking lanes soon. We will be reimbursed 80% of the Curbs are also in bad shape, but we can’t afford to do that now. Passed on roll call vote with Lind, Peterson, Hinnen, Teegarden, L. Klaus, Getz, Prather and Germann all voting Aye.

The Mayor announced the following committee to review the proposals for the construction engineering of the STU project.

Committee Reports:

Chairman Prather of the Budget Committee: No report

Chairman Getz of the Administration and Personnel Committee: Melissa went over the scorecard. She is preparing pictures to show what has been done.

Chairman Hinnen of the Enterprise Committee: No report

Chairman Hinnen of the Maintenance Committee: No report

Chairman Lind of the Public Safety Committee: Lind reported that a school safety program will be held soon.

Alex report on Starcom base radio. Melissa asked for volunteers to work the Fourth of July celebration. More information from ESDA is expected soon.

Chairman Germann of the Park and Recreation Committee: The Dog Park dedication went well, and it is open now. There will be a meeting on the Lake drawdown at 6:30 tomorrow night at the Lake Pavilion.

Questions have been submitted before the meeting. A representative from the DNR will answer the questions. Discussion was held on weeds on the ball diamonds. A committee meeting will be held to discuss this at a meeting soon.

Chairman Teegarden of the Economic Development Committee: No report

Chairman Mayor Zimmer of the Liquor Committee: No report

New Business: Remember the meeting on the Lake drawdown at 6:30 tomorrow night. The Woodford

County Zoning Board is postponing the public hearing for the solar farm to July 24.

The July 4 celebration needs volunteers to help at the inflatables, parking, etc. Several of the Council and officials will sing the national anthem.

Lind is on the Tri-County Regional Planning Commission. Money is available for sidewalks, trails, etc. We will apply for this.

The drawdown of the Lake was discussed.

There being no further business to come before the Council the meeting adjourned at 8:24 p.m.
