City of Marquette Heights Council met Nov. 26.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

PLEDGE

The City Council meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance led by Mayor Crum.

CALL TO ORDER

The regular meeting of the City Council was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by Mayor Crum.

ROLL CALL

The following Aldermen were present for Roll Call: Alderman Little, Neuhaus, Conlin, Worent, Bradford, and Neumann.

Also present: Treasurer Babb, Clerk Steele, Public Works Director Ghidina, Police Chief Elliott, Sgt. Merritt, Fire Chief Fortier, Office Manager Minson, and Attorney Herman.

PRESENTATION OF JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS

Alderman Neuhaus made a motion, seconded by Alderman Bradford to approve the regular minutes of November 12, 2018. Roll Call Vote: Ayes- Alderman Neuhaus, Bradford, Conlin, Neumann, Worent, and Little. Nays- None. Motion passed.

Alderman Neumann made a motion, seconded by Alderman Neuhaus to approve the executive minutes of November 12, 2018. Roll Call Vote: Ayes- Alderman Neumann, Neuhaus, Worent, Little, Bradford, and Conlin. Nays- None. Motion passed.

REPORTS OF CITY OFFICIALS

Mayor

Mayor Crum expressed his appreciation for the great job that public works did on the snow removal this weekend. Also, commended police for their efforts getting cars off the streets for the snow plows to get through.

Economic Development planner Matt Fick and Kathy Brown from University of Illinois will do a survey of the community at little to no charge.

The 1st annual Christmas tree lighting and community sing will be December 6th at 6:30 p.m. Decorations will be hung on the community tree at 715 Lincoln Road after the lighting. This is being presented by the library, city office, and Bridgeway Community Church.

Clerk

No report from Clerk Steele.

Treasurer

No report from Treasurer Babb.

Attorney

No report from Attorney Herman.

Communications

None.

REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES:

Water and Sewer – Alderman Bradford

Hunter Hydro-Vac found problems on LaSalle Road. Hoerr Construction will come and do additional televising and cleaning.

Law Enforcement – Alderman Neumann

The October police report is on file.

The new squad SUV is being wrapped.

Streets – Alderman Neuhaus

Spray patching is done.

Hose was repaired on the street sweeper.

Public Buildings / Parks -Alderman Conlin

Ruyle Electric will begin electrical work on the door at the fire department.

Fire – Alderman Little

Food Basket flyers were distributed.

Food basket donations are now being accepted. Names for food basket recipients are also being accepted.

Planning – Alderman Worent

Survey for lot for sale will be done, then appraised.

OLD BUSINESS

NEW BUSINESS

APPROVE amendment to Salary Resolution

Alderman Little made a motion, seconded by Alderman Bradford to approve a resolution amending the pay scale rate of the FY 2018-2019 Salary Resolutions. Roll Call Votes: Ayes- Alderman Little, Bradford, Conlin, Neuhaus, Worent, and Neumann. Nays-None. Motion passed.

APPROVE salary increases

Alderman Little made a motion, seconded by Alderman Bradford to approve salary increases for non-union city employees, retro-active back to November 1, 2018. Roll Call Votes: Ayes – Alderman Little, Bradford, Neumann, Worent, Neuhaus, and Conlin. Nays-None. Motion passed.

APPROVE payment to Hunter Hydro-Vac

Alderman Bradford made a motion, seconded by Alderman Little to approve a $1,085.00 payment to Hunter Hydro-Vac to televise the sewer main at Joliet Road near the school. Roll Call Votes: Ayes-Alderman Bradford, Little, Conlin, Neuhaus, Neumann, and Worent. Nays-None. Motion passed.

FINANCE – ALDERMAN WORENT

Alderman Worent made a motion, seconded by Alderman Bradford to approve paying bills: General Fund: $48,079.63, Water: $12,966.90, Sewer: $5,204.71, Water/Sewer Replacement: $1,930.44, Motor Fuel: $.00, Audit Fund: $.00, Wheel Tax: $19,900.00, IMRF: $2,008.90, and Social Security: $2,192.52. Roll Call Vote: Ayes – Alderman Worent, Bradford, Neuhaus, Conlin, Neumann, and Little. Nays – None. Motion passed.

CITIZENS WISHING TO ADDRESS THE COUNCIL

None.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS PERTAINING TO THE CITY

The council will discuss video gaming at the next committee meeting in December.

Alderman Little made a motion to enter executive session for the purpose of discussing personnel, seconded by Alderman Bradford. Roll Call Vote: All Ayes. Motion passed.

Council exited regular session and entered executive session at 7:14 p.m.

Council resumed regular session at 7:34 p.m.

ADJOURNMENT

Alderman Bradford made a motion, seconded by Alderman Little to adjourn the regular City Council meeting at 7:37 p.m. Voice Vote: All Ayes. Motion passed.
