Retired Lt. Colonel Oliver North, president of the National Rifle Association, is the scheduled keynote speaker for the Tazewell County Republican Party's Lincoln Dinner scheduled for April 12 in East Peoria.
The Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA) has extended an invitation to its members to attend.
“You are cordially invited,” ISRA officials said in a bulletin sent to members on Jan. 10 about the five-hour event scheduled to be held in the Par-A-Dice Hotel Grand Ballroom starting at 4:30 p.m.
As part of the festivities, there will also be a VIP meet-and-greet with North.
“This promises to be a much talked about event that will be memorable and fun,” organizers added in the bulletin.
Until Jan. 31, early bird reservations can be booked at $100 per person or $1,000 for a table of 10 for a menu set to feature fresh filet of salmon with lemon butter sauce and capers, bacon-wrapped pork filet mignon with applejack sauce, and chef's select vegetarian and gluten-free entrees.
Tickets can be reserved at www.tazewellgop.org/lincoln_day_dinner or by sending your check to: Tazewell County Republicans, 1000 Court Street, Pekin, IL 61554. For more information, contact Tazewell County Republican Chairman Jim Rule at chairman@tazewellgop.org or 309-208-9930.
The 74-year-old North was named NRA president in May 2018, replacing Pete Brownell, who elected not to seek a second term. Prior to that, North was a commentator for Fox News.
