City of Chillicothe Public Works Committee met Jan. 9.

Present: Chairman Gould, Alderman Sharp, Alderman Hughes, Alderman Jenkins, Mayor White City Engineer Coulter, Superintendent Sutherland, Office Manager Passage
Chairman Gould called the meeting to order.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Jack Braun was in the audience and thanked the committee for the opportunity to put the benches in the park to earn his scout badge.
BUDGET REVIEW
Office Manager Passage presented the December budget comparison report, for
Road & Bridge, Water/Sewer, and MFT. Superintendent Sutherland stated that he had reviewed the budget and he is within the budget at this time.
2019 – BUDGET
Office Manager Passage advised the committee that the 2019 budget worksheets have been given to the supervisors to complete. Superintendent Sutherland has turned in his operating budgets. Superintendent Sutherland asked to committee for any projects to include in the budget.
2019 – DROP OFF SCHEDULE
Office Manager Passage stated that should the committee want to keep the same schedule as last year the drop off would open March 20 and close the last Wednesday in November, which is November 27. The committee reviewed the budget and Chairman Gould will announce the opening and closing dates to the council at the January 14, 2019 council meeting.
STATE CAPITAL PROJECT REQUEST
Mayor White stated that Representative Ryan Spain had requested a list of capital projects to submit, should the Illinois General Assembly consider passing a capital bill. He advised that he had submitted the following:
Walnut Street Storm Sewer Phase II
Walnut Street Storm Sewer Phase III 6th Street Water Main Replacement Railroad Viaduct Replacement Bradley Avenue Resurfacing
PROJECT UPDATE
Engineer Coulter presented a map showing streets that had been overlaid in pre 1999, 1999 and 2000. He stated that he will drive the streets and at the next meeting make a recommendation as to which Streets to overlay in 2019.
Office Manager Passage gave an update on the project regarding the Council door replacement.
She advised the committee that Contractor Coffey had a health issue and would not be able to complete the project for 6 to 8 weeks. She presented another proposal from Installation Specialties Incorporated to finish staining and installation of the doors. The cost was over $1,000 more.
A discussion ensued. Alderman Hughes stated that Contractor Coffey has done good work for the city and recommended that city wait the 6 to 8 weeks and have Mr. Coffey finish the job.
Another recommendation was to obtain another proposal. Office Manager will report back to the committee at the next meeting.
