City of Chillicothe Public Works Committee met Dec. 5.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

Present: Chairman Gould, Alderman Hughes, Sharp, Mayor White, City Engineer Coulter, Superintendent Sutherland, Office Manager Passage Chairman Gould called the meeting to order.

BUDGET REVIEW

A review of the November budget was held

HIGH USAGE WAIVER

There were no High Usage Waiver Requests

MOTOR FUEL TAX RESOLUTION

Engineer Coulter presented the 2019 MFT General Maintenance Resolution

He explained that he had removed the equipment rental line items from the resolution as they are no longer used. The total of the General Maintenance is $57,000.00. The consensus of the committee was to present the resolution to the city council on Monday, December 10 for approval.

SCRAPPING –TRUCK 20

Superintendent Sutherland stated that old truck 20 is no longer in service and he has taken all parts that he could from the truck and is ready to take it in for scrap. Office Manager Passage stated that an ordinance will have to be drafted declaring it surplus property and giving authorization for the superintendent to scrap the vehicle. We will need to know where he will be taking the truck and approximately how revenue will be received. A discussion ensued.

The consensus of the committee was to have the ordinance prepared allowing the superintendent to take the truck in for scrap and present it to the city council on Monday, December 10, for approval.

PROJECT UPDATE

Engineer Coulter stated he did not have any updates at this time.

Superintendent Sutherland advised the committee that he may be installing the two valves. A discussion ensued regarding whether to install the valves at this time due to the weather. The consensus of the committee was to waive until February or March to install the valves.

Superintendent Sutherland advised the committee that during the last snow one of the snow plows on the truck was hit by a truck that ran a red light. He stated that he had Koenig Body look at the plow and they recommended that the plow and the cage be replaced. The cost is $14,958.00. The committee was advised that a claim has been submitted to the insurance company. A discussion ensued. Office Manager Passage stated that there is not sufficient money in the line item Capital Equipment in the budget to cover the purchase. She stated that there is enough appropriated to make the purchase. This line item would go over budget. purchase the plow.
