Meet

City of Chillicothe Human Resource Committee met Aug. 7.

Here is the agenda provided by the committee:

Present: Chairman Gary Sharp, Alderman Danny Colwell, Alderman Dennis Gould, Alderman Jeff Jenkins

Also Present: Mayor Don White, City Clerk Margaret Hurd, Attorney Michael Seghetti, Superintendent Sutherland

Chairman Sharp called the meeting to order.

Public Comment: None

Social Media Policy:

Chairman Sharp explained that there was an issue brought to his attention with public works employees responding to comments on social media. He explained that the Greg Wheet, Teamster Representative for public works employees did not agree with the city’s social media policy as written. Alderman Colwell questioned if the policy was included in the last contract negotiations. Attorney Seghetti said that he understood it was not.

Superintendent Sutherland entered the meeting at 6:11pm.

It was questioned whether employees signed the social media policy and if there was a difference in the city social media or personal social media. Attorney Seghetti explained the difference.

Chairman Sharp and Attorney Seghetti spoke with the union representative. Attorney Seghetti explained that Union Representative Greg Wheet was concerned about the reference to discipline and discharge in the policy.

After a lengthy discussion, the consensus of the committee was to have Attorney Seghetti contact Union Representative Greg Wheet to negotiate the language of the policy.

Motion Alderman Jenkins, second Alderman Colwell move that the committee adjourn into closed session at 6:17pm., for the Personnel – Section 2 C 1 and allow Superintendent of Public Works Shawn Sutherland attend. Upon returning to open session no action will be taken.

Roll Call Vote was:

Ayes: Colwell, Gould, Sharp, Jenkins

Nays: None

Chairman declared motion carried.

Committee returned to open session at 6:37pm.

Meeting adjourned at 6:37pm
