Others Present – Petitioner(s) Mid America National Bank represented by Keith Plavec of Maurer and Stutz and Director of Planning & Zoning, Bob Ackerman.
Chairman Patton asked for A Motion to approve the minutes from the meeting of June 10, 2019. A Motion was made by Maria Orwig and seconded by Phil Fleming. Motion carried with a unanimous voice vote.
Chairman Patton read the first petition, Case 19-012, a public hearing for property located at 100 West Elm Street. Petitioner(s) Mid America National Bank is requesting a zoning change from B-1 to B-2 to build a new bank. The current zoning is B-1.
Keith Plavec spoke on behalf of the bank. About a month ago MANB made a petition for a zoning change to B-1 to relocate 3 properties zoned R-3. MidAmerica plans to build a new bank this Fall.
The firm designing the bank originally planned on a single story with a basement but after some groundwater issues and pipe requirements discovered they would have to build a two story and eliminate the basement.
Keith pointed out that B-2 allows for financial institutions and has a height requirement that would meet the new designs need of 38 feet which in a B-1 only allows for 32 feet. The center of the new building is where the 38 feet will be.
Maria Orwig made A Motion to approve the Finding of Facts as yes to all and approve the request for the B-2 zoning with a second from Dave Pickel. Motion carried with a unanimous roll call vote.
The members had a some questions for Bob regarding a few of the projects going on in the city. They talked a little about the development of the former Siesta property and still nothing going on there. Bob talked about Aldi’s remodel and opening on August 22.
Bob said that he had been going out looking at abandoned and derelict properties and one of major concern is the former Demler Lumber on Linn St. Drake Wilson is trying to track down the owner who he believes lives in Lincoln, Illinois.
Angie Lingenfelter had visited the Salveo Clinic and they are looking to expand that facility.
Dave Pickel made A Motion to adjourn the meeting and Angie Lingenfelter made the second. Motion carried with a unanimous voice vote.
Meeting adjourned at 5:54 PM
