City of Chillicothe marketing and Tourism Committee met January 7

City of Chillicothe marketing and Tourism Committee met Jan. 7.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

MEMBERS PRESENT: Nick McMillion, Patti Pierson, Sarah Sights, Sandi Levell, Nancie Cassidy, Amanda Oedewaldt, Director Amanda Beadles, and Mayor White, Keegan Gauwitz

MEMBERS ABSENT: Dan Colwell, Paresh Patel, Emily Vonachen, Kevin Yates, Nathenia Zich, Joe Harper

The meeting was called to order at 3:30 p.m.

Budget Review

No changes from last meeting.

M&T Membership

Michelle Pollack’s resignation will be accepted at the next council meeting.

2020-2021 M&T Plan & Budget

Committee discussed potential donation changes. Increase Chamber to $1,500 (1,000 from M&T and 500 EDC budget). It was suggested to reduce 4th of July and increase Brad Wallen donation. Committee suggested moving Video Billboard maintenance to EDC Budget. No consensus was reached at this time to give to the Finance/ED Committee.

Times Bulletin

Director Beadles presented citizens requests and concerns over the Times Bulletin quality of articles. Committee discussed and it was determined to encourage people to submit articles. Committee also shared Peoria Chronical is taking the lead for Chillicothe information and several businesses are supporting via advertising. Chillicothe Chamber of Commerce offered to help business write press releases.

Donation – Rotary Club, Bald Eagle Days

Director Beadles submitted the Rotary Club Donation request. The consensus of the committee was to approve and recommend to council via EDC Committee.

Promotion – Pearce Community Center

Director Beadles submitted the Pearce Sponsorship request. The consensus of the committee was to approve $250 for this year since it was not budget for and to and recommend to council via EDC Committee. Commission also recommended including in next year’s budget for $500.

Old Business:

2020 Calendar of Events

Director Beadles submitted 2020 Calendar of Events to Commission and requested changes in two weeks on January 20th.

Summer Camp 20th Anniversary

Director Beadles asked Commission for contact information for Janel Justice and Darbi Dietrick to request information on Summer Camp’s Chillicothe donations through the years.

2nd Saturday Market – Countdown to Christmas Review

$500, $200 and $100 winner. Castaways reported receiving Holiday Dollars. 900 playing cards given out 293 returned. Recommendations better system for picking up cards, special prize for individual going to all places and more prizes with smaller values.

1st Tuesday Business Connection

January 7, 2020 is the next meeting at 7:30 at City Hall.

Town Theatre Video Ad

Video edited and Mayor will meet with ODG for next steps.

Riverview Economic Development Coalition Organization (REDCO)

This group is focused on promoting region from McCluggage bridge to Henry bridge. Their focus is on outdoor activities (hunting/fishing/etc) bringing in tourist from Chicago, Indianapolis and St. Louis.

Organizations update

PACVB – Emily not in attendance

Chamber – Sarah reported they are looking for someone to fill the empty position

Subcommittee:

Art Installation/Mural Committee update – Meeting to come

Marketing/Promo & Festival update – Met in December. Chamber looking into having a 2nd Chillicothe festival.
