The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development received more than $1.8 million for Illinois' 18th Congressional District, Rep. Darin LaHood (R-Illinois) said in April.
The federal funding is for public house operations in the district, LaHood said, according to WBMD. The award was authorized by Congress for the Coronavirus Preparedness and Response Supplemental Appropriations (CARES) Act.
“As we continue to work to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on families, workers, and small businesses, this critical funding will aid Public Housing Authorities in the 18th District that are working overtime to support those in need. I will continue to work with my colleagues in Congress to ensure our local communities have what they need to recover from COVID-19.” LaHood said in his press release.
The funds will help Public Housing with management, maintenance, resident services and preparing housing for impacts of the coronavirus pandemic, according to WBMD.
