2 Champaign County residents under 20 test positive for COVID-19 on May 7

Two Champaign County residents under 20 years of age tested positive for COVID-19 on May 7, according to numbers being reported by the Illinois Department of Public Health.

In total, there have been 28 positive cases reported in Champaign County among residents under 20, accounting for 12.2 percent of all cases in the county. Through May 7, Champaign County has reported a total of 229 confirmed cases of the coronavirus, six of which have ended with the victim's death.

Illinois gathers all of their COVID-19 data from across the state electronically. The reported cases and deaths will fluctuate as additional info is gathered. Chicago was home to one of the first known cases of COVID-19 in the US, as well as it's transmission.
