Midway Volunteer Fire Department responded to 63 calls in 2018 - 103.2 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Midway included 47 fires - 23 structure fires, five vehicle fires and 19 other fires.

In all, the department saw $77,600 in fire loss - or about $1,651 per fire.

The department also received 16 false calls, including one malicious call and 15 other false calls.

The calls resulted in one civilian non-fire death.

The Midway Volunteer Fire Department had an annual budget of $37,464 in 2018.
