Darin LaHood, who has represented Illinois’s 16th District in the U.S. Congress since 2015, recently shared updates from his visits and legislative priorities on social media. LaHood, a Peoria native and graduate of Loras College and John Marshall Law School, highlighted local engagement in Rockford as well as federal policy efforts.

On July 10, 2025, LaHood visited Bergstrom Inc. in Rockford to discuss manufacturing jobs and the impact of new legislation. He stated, "During my stops in Rockford, I visited @BergstromInc to emphasize how the One Big Beautiful Bill protects, strengthens, and supports manufacturing jobs in #IL16. I appreciate Dave, Dan, Gus, and their team for taking the time to meet with me!"

The following day, July 11, 2025, LaHood met with Winnebago County Board Chairman Joe Chiarelli and Marlana Dokken to discuss public safety initiatives. He wrote, "It was great to meet with Winnebago County Board Chairman Joe Chiarelli and Marlana Dokken in Rockford to hear about their public safety initiatives and priorities for the county. I’m grateful for their leadership and dedication to the people of Winnebago County!"

Later on July 11, LaHood addressed broader legislative issues facing Congress. He commented on two main priorities: border security and economic growth through new legislation. According to his post, "Republicans were elected on two core issues: fixing the unmitigated disaster at our southern border and strengthening our economy. The One Big Beautiful Bill does both. This landmark bill revives the economy and makes the largest-ever investment in border security."

Darin LaHood has served Illinois’s 16th District since replacing Aaron Schock in 2015.
