Darin LaHood, the U.S. Representative for Illinois’ 16th District since 2015, recently shared updates about his activities and outreach efforts in his district through a series of posts on social media. LaHood, who succeeded Aaron Schock and resides in Peoria, Illinois, highlighted both community engagement and legislative priorities during these communications.

On July 9, 2025, LaHood posted about his visit to a local organization: "During my day in Bloomington, I stopped by the Western Avenue Community Center to learn more about the educational and health programs they offer residents. Thanks to Tinervin Family Foundation and the community center staff for their commitment to supporting the community!"

The following day, July 10, 2025, LaHood reported holding a telephone town hall with constituents from Illinois’ 16th District. In one post he stated: "Last night, I held a telephone town hall to speak directly to constituents in #IL16 I gave an update on what has been happening in Congress. I emphasized the importance of the One Big Beautiful Bill, Republicans’ efforts to strengthen Medicaid, support for veterans, and the work".

Darin LaHood was born in Peoria in 1968 and continues to reside there. He holds a BA from Loras College and earned his JD from John Marshall Law School in Chicago.
