Peoria Standard

There were 17 offenders convicted of drug crimes released on parole in Tazewell County during the first quarter of 2020, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Peoria Standard.

The data shows that 13 men and four women were among the parolees. The median age of the parolees sentenced for drug crimes was 35. The youngest parolee was a 23-year-old man sentenced in 2018, and the oldest was a 52-year-old man sentenced in 2016.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Dwight Hill. He was convicted in 2005 when he was 29 years old. He is now 44.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
