Q1 2020 Recap: Parolees in Tazewell County convicted of crimes involving alcohol

There were two offenders convicted of crimes involving alcohol released on parole in Tazewell County during the first quarter of 2020, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Peoria Standard.

The data shows that both of the released offenders among the parolees were men. The median age of the parolees sentenced for crimes involving alcohol was 46. The younger parolee was a 40-year-old man sentenced in 2017, and the oldest was a 52-year-old man sentenced in 2016.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Wesley Smallwood. He was convicted in 2016 when he was 47 years old. He is now 52.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
