Chief Montemurro discussed ordinances changes/updates that he would like tomake to some ordinances such as parking, handicap parking, cannabis and underage smoking.
The Mayor of Kappa is inquiring about contracting El Paso’s Police Department to patrol their city. Our Officers do already respond to calls in Kappa as many times we can be there quicker than the County Officers. Our Officers would also plan to patrol Kappa a couple times a shift. Chief spoke to the Woodford County Sheriff and he would appreciate the help responding. The cost estimate is approximately$42,524 based on figures from last year including salaries, insurance costs and vehicle wear and tear. Chief will give Kappa’s Mayor the cost and see if they canafford it.
Discussion was held on hiring fill-time and part-time officers. We have an officer that has given his 2 weeks’ notice and one that has already resigned. That leaves us down 2 full-time officers.
Chief Montemurro update the committee on crime prevention programs thatOfficer Montoney is looking into. Costs should be very minimal.
A motion was made to adjourn by Brandon Barker and seconded by Will More. The meeting was adjourned at 6:45PM.
