City of Marquette Heights City Council Met Feb. 8.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

CALL TO ORDER

The City Council meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M by Mayor Bradford.

ROLL CALL

Aldermen present for Roll Call: Alderman Little, Naugle, Crum, Amundson, and Neumann.

Also present were Clerk Steele, Treasurer Harris, Public Works Director Brown, Police Chief Merritt, Fire Chief Fortier, Asst. Fire Chief Hermancinski, Office Manager Minson, Deputy Clerk Ramsay and Attorney Herman were also present.

Absent: Alderman Neuhaus

Treasurer

Finalizing financing for the new fire truck on Friday with the Mayor.

Treasurer Harris advised that we still need to look at a possible referendum and ways for the payment to be made and revenues.

Attorney

Litigation update will be at next meeting under Executive Session.

Communication

None

REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES:

Water and Sewer – Alderman Amundson

Maurer Stutz approval on the agenda was previously quoted at $1,800.00, was able to get costs down $700.00.

Law Enforcement – Alderman Little

Squad 21-1 is in getting worked on just waiting on a few components to finish up. Covid-19 has caused a delay.

Reaching out to Watchguard on 17-1 about camera. Looking to put a new camera in the 21-1 and the old camera put in this.

Office Application is available online on website and facebook for easy download for anyone interested.

Nancy Raeble with Miller Hall & Triggs, who does our OV prosecutions inquired if we would be interested in updated our OV max fines from $500 to $750 where state statute is currently at. Chief Merritt will provide copies of the statute for review.

We will be moving forward in the process of FOP negotiations.

Streets – Alderman Neumann

Street crew did a great job staying on top of the snow this past weekend. Busy week ahead with snow accumulation so the street crew will be out once again to maintain the roads.

Draft of MFT to be finalized to begin work on the department budget.

Tony will take his Right of Way exam for applicator licensing this Thursday.

Issues arose with 315, an update will be given later.

Public Buildings / Parks – Alderman Naugle

No report.

Fire – Alderman Neuhaus

Chief Fortier thanked the Council, Mayor and Rick for the speedy action on getting the new Fire Truck here.

Chief Fortier thanked Office Manager Minson, Tony, and Tim with streets on their assistance with the Weather Siren not working and installing the new batteries. Tests will be conducted regularly to ensure that it is working properly.

All officers were sworn in for the 2021 Year this past Saturday, thank you Clerk Steele for attending the meeting.

Joshua Fowler has been awarded Fire Fighter of the year for 2020.

Planning – Alderman Crum

CONSENT AGENDA:

Approve January 25, 2021 Regular Council Meeting minutes.

Approve October 26, 2020 Executive Session minutes.

Approve December 7, 2020 Executive Session minutes.

Approve January 11, 2021 Executive Session minutes.

Approve February 1, 2021 Executive Session minutes.

Approve Bi-Monthly expenditures in the amount of $68,285.60.

TABLED CONSENT AGENDA ITEMS:

APPROVE CONSENT AGENDA:

Alderman Crum made motion, seconded by Alderman Little, to approve the Consent Agenda with removal of items 2 through 5. Roll call vote: Ayes: Alderman Little, Neumann, Naugle, Amundson, and Crum. Nays – none. Motion passed.

NEW BUSINESS:

Alderman Little made motion, seconded by Alderman Neumann, to approve payment to MacQueen Emergency Group in the amount of $298,000.00, for the purchase of 2013 Dash CF Engine.

Alderman Amundson made motion, seconded by Alderman Crum approve payment to Maurer-Stutz in the amount of $1,067.50 for engineer services on the tower piping modification.

CITIZENS WISHING TO ADDRESS THE COUNCIL:

None

ADJOURNMENT

Alderman Little made a motion, seconded by Alderman Naugle, to adjourn the regular City Council Meeting at 7:23 p.m. Voice Votes: All Ayes. Motion passed.
