Rep. Norine Hammond (R-Macomb) took time to express how pleased she is with having her district represented in a redistricting committee hearing in Western Illinois.

She represents the 93rd District in the Illinois House of Representatives which covers eight west-central counties in the state.

“Thank you for providing this opportunity,” Hammond said. “There are some good things that’s come of COVID. This is one example of that. We may not be able to be all together in a room but being able to have the ability to do it virtually is certainly something to be desired and I would just say thank you for the work that you're doing.”

Hammond’s constituents are residents of Knox, Fulton, Warren, McDonough, Schuyler, Cass, Brown, and Mason counties.

A number of redistricting hearings have been conducted discussing the process by which this year’s map should be redrawn. While everyone agrees on what should be the end goal, various opinions and conflicting methods have surfaced.

Republican lawmakers are pushing for the People's Independent Maps Act. Democratic lawmakers said they remain committed to the creation of a fair map.
