City of Marquette Heights City Council Met May 10.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

CALL TO ORDER

The City Council meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M by Mayor Bradford.

ROLL CALL

Aldermen present for Roll Call: Alderman Little, Naugle, Amundson, Neuhaus and Neumann.

Also present were Clerk Steele, Public Works Director Brown, Police Chief Merritt, Fire Chief Fortier, Office Manager Minson, Deputy Clerk Ramsay, Mayor-Elect Hamm, Treasurer-Elect Ghidina and City Engineer Dan Goode were also present.

Absent: Treasurer Harris

REPORTS OF CITY OFFICIALS

Mayor

Jimmy Hoelzel has resigned as Building Inspector. Mayor Bradford thanked him for his time with the City.

Communication

Matthew Carpenter has resigned from the Zoning Board effective April 13, 2021.

Citizens Wishing to Address the Council

Bill Myers, 1001 Edgewater Drive in North Pekin, addressed the Council about future business prospects.

REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES:

Water and Sewer – Alderman Amundson

No report.

Law Enforcement – Alderman Little

Monthly report has been passed out to everyone and is on file in the office.

Peoria has cancelled their fireworks raising concern of the influx of attendees overcrowding at the City’s fireworks. Safety concerns to be discussed further at next meetings.

Streets – Alderman Neumann

Executive session requested to discuss personnel.

Spray patching will start on Wednesday.

Genie Lift options have been passed out for review at next Committee meeting.

Public Buildings / Parks – Alderman Naugle

A few additional concerns arose during soffit repair. Brick masonry work was visual repair only. Steel structure being built to support the eve with all hopes staying under the original $20,000.00 approval.

Fire – Alderman Neuhaus

No report.

Planning – Alderman Crum

No report. Alderman Crum thanked everyone for the support and help during his time with the City as Mayor and Alderman.

OLD BUSINESS

Alderman Neumann made motion, seconded by Alderman Amundson to approve additional payment in the amount of $179.95 on previously approved Centre State invoice for work completed on the dump truck. Roll Call Vote: All ayes. Motion passed.

CONSENT AGENDA:

Approve April 26th, 2021 Regular Council Meeting minutes.

Approve April 26th, 2021 Executive Council Meeting minutes.

Approve Bi-Monthly expenditures in the amount of $99,679.02.

Approve monthly Fire Engine 313 loan payment in the amount of $3,119.79 to Better Banks.

Approve monthly Police Squad 21-1 loan payment in the amount of $757.36 to Better Banks.

APPROVE CONSENT AGENDA:

Alderman Little made motion, seconded by Alderman Crum, to approve the consent agenda in its entirety. Roll Call Vote: All Ayes, motion passed.

ADJOURN SINE DIE

Alderman Crum made motion, seconded by Alderman Little to Adjourn Sine Die. Roll Call Vote: All Ayes, motion passed.

Alderman Little made motion, seconded by Alderman Amundson, to approve appointment of Larry Bradford to Zoning Board. Roll Call Vote: All Ayes. Motion passed.

Alderman Neumann made motion, seconded by Alderman Neuhaus, to approve appointment of Rick Crum to Zoning Board. Roll Call Vote: All Ayes. Motion passed.

Alderman Naugle made motion, seconded by Alderman Amundson, to approve appointment of Dale Little as Mayor Pro-Tem. Roll Call Vote: 4 Ayes; Alderman Little abstained. Motion passed.

Alderman Neuhaus made motion, seconded by Alderman Little, to approve re-appointment of Maria Minson as Deputy Treasurer. Roll Call Vote: All Ayes. Motion passed.

Alderman Amundson made motion, seconded by Alderman Neumann, to approve re-appointment of Nicole Ramsay as Deputy Clerk. Roll Call Vote: All Ayes. Motion passed.

Alderman Neuhaus made motion, seconded by Alderman Neumann, to approve re-appointment of William Merritt as Chief of Police. Roll Call Vote: All Ayes. Motion passed.

Alderman Naugle made motion, seconded by Alderman Neuhaus, to approve re-appointment of Anthony Brown as Public Works Director. Roll Call Vote: All Ayes. Motion passed.

Alderman Little made motion, seconded by Alderman Neuhaus, to approve re-appointment of Miller, Hall and Triggs as City Attorney. Roll Call Vote: All Ayes: Motion passed.

Alderman Little made motion, seconded by Alderman Neuhaus, to approve re-appointment of Maurer-Stutz as City Engineer. Roll Call Vote: All Ayes. Motion passed.

Alderman Neumann made motion, seconded by Alderman Neuhaus, to approve appointment of Dana Dearborn as City Building Inspector. Roll Call Vote: All Ayes. Motion passed.

Alderman Neuhaus made motion, seconded by Alderman Amundson, to approve re-appointment of Ron Sturm as City Electrical Inspector. Roll Call Vote: All ayes. Motion passed.

Alderman Naugle made motion, seconded by Alderman Amundson to approve payment not to exceed $1,000.00 to Bros. and Sons Construction for brick pillar repair. Roll Call Vote: All Ayes. Motion passed.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS PERTAINING TO THE CITY

Council held a celebratory reception for outgoing and incoming Council Members.

Mayor Hamm presented Larry Bradford and Rick Crum with plaques thanking them for their service and dedication to the City.

ADJOURNMENT

Alderman Neumann made motion, seconded by Alderman Little, to exit the regular City Council Meeting at 8:01pm to a brief recess before entering executive session to discuss the sale of real estate and personnel. Roll Call Vote: All Ayes. Motion passed
