Karin from Moraine Sands Windfarms presented the Council with information regarding one of the windturbines being located within a specific distance of Mason City limits which must be cleared by ordinance. The Council will research the matter and get back with her.

Brian Durbin addressed the Council regarding a variance request from Darryl Robertson to build a garage only on some property in Mr. Durbin’s neighborhood. He has concerns about future property values, future owners maintaining the property, etc.

Darryl Robertson then addressed the Council regarding his request for variance to build a garage only for now on some property. There were not concerns regarding how Mr. Robertson would take care of the property, but there were concerns from a neighboring citizen as to how it would be taken care of in the future, once sold to someone else. The Council agreed that any property, whether it be just a garage or with a house could have the potential to not be kept up once ownership changes, there’s really no predicting that. The Council agreed that the property had been sitting empty for many, many, many years. The Council agreed to follow the recommendation of the zoning board and grant Mr. Robertson’s request.
