City of Marquette Heights City Council met May 9.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

CALL TO ORDER

The City Council meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M by Mayor Hamm.

ROLL CALL

Aldermen present for Roll Call: Alderman Little, Naugle, Amundson, Neumann, Greiner and Neuhaus.

Also present were Clerk Steele, Attorney Hermann, Public Works Director Brown, Assistant Fire Chief Hermacinski, Police Chief Merritt, and Office Manager Minson.

Absent: Fire Chief Fortier and Deputy Clerk Reynolds.

REPORTS OF CITY OFFICIALS

Mayor

Council observed a moment of silence for Edd Hill who passed away May 6, 2022. Edd was a street superintendent and worked for the city for more than 40 years. He also was an honorary member of the Marquette Heights F.D.

Townhall meeting next Monday at 7 pm Liberty Hall.

Executive Session to discuss compensation for a class of non-union employees.

Citizens Wishing to Address the Council

Men’s Club President Michael Overholt gave update on the walking trail at Independence Park.

Fireworks will be held Saturday, June 25, 2022.

No Carnival date is set for now.

Chief Merritt expressed his gratitude to the Men’s Club for installing camera at the block building.

REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES:

Water and Sewer – Alderman Neuhaus

An air compressor at the water plant has a drain issue.

Agenda Item 5/23/22: $2,170.00 to GA Rich for vac truck at water main break at 200 Lincoln.

Capital Improvement Meeting planned for Thursday at 11:00 am.

Agenda Item 5/23/22: Increase deposit for new homeowners when signing up for water service, from $50.00 to $75.00.

Law Enforcement – Alderman Naugle

Squad 17-1 overheating. Repair estimate is $1,000.00.

New squad car coming in the middle of August.

Streets – Alderman Little

406 – 408 Sangamon outfall to be completed this week.

Mosquito spraying this week.

Hired a new part-time employee.

Agenda Item 5/23/22: $2,800 for City portion at Bridgeway Church.

Agenda Item 5/23/22: Approve up to $1,000.00 to Econo Signs for replacement of street signs.

Public Buildings / Parks – Alderman Greiner

City Hall repair costs have risen.

Agenda Item 5/23/22: Approve $36.650.00 to Kreiling Roofing for replacement of gutters at City Hall. – $30,000 ARPA / $6,650.00 from Savings.

ADA swing set price has increased $1,500.00 due to shipping.

Concession stand is prepped and ready for the season.

Agenda Item 5/23/22: $598.81 to Atlas Supplies for cleaning chemicals & materials.

City will not move forward on the process of having a City flag at this time due to funding constraints.

Rec Association baseball seasons starts May 14, 2022. Parade line up is at 8:30 am.

Fire – Alderman Amundson

Truck 313 is going to the shop tomorrow to fix turbo.

Planning – Alderman Neumann

Approve $1,306.75 to Midwest Business for IT service and extended warranty on server.

Approve $14,950.00 to G.A Rich & Sons for installation of inlet and concrete apron at 1004 Lincoln. – ARPA fund P.O. #14

Approve $505.00 to Core & Main for a culvert pipe and connector. – MFT fund

Approve $859 to Berls for a replacement water fountain at Independence Park.

Approve $1,053.08 to Mid-Illini Auto Center to repair 17-1 from overheating.

ITEMS REMOVED FROM CONSENT AGENDA:

None.

APPROVE CONSENT AGENDA:

Alderman Neuhaus made a motion, seconded by Alderman Amundson to approve the Consent Agenda in its entirety. Roll Call Vote: All Ayes, Motion passed. Agenda Item #8: Approve Resolution for Creve Coeur sewer use fees for FY 2023. Resolution #575. Agenda Item #10. Approve Resolution for Semi-Annual Review of Executive Minutes. Resolution #576

NEW BUSINESS:

Alderman Little made a motion, seconded by Neumann to approve $600 to American Concrete Company for City portion to replace driveway apron and curbing at 211 Beloit. Roll Call Vote: All Ayes. Motion passed.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS PERTAINING TO THE CITY.

Alderman Neumann made a motion, seconded by Alderman Greiner, to enter executive session at 7:56 p.m. for the purpose of discussion of personnel of certain class of people regarding compensation. Roll Call Vote: All Ayes. Motion passed.

At 7:57 pm Public Works Director Brown, Office Manager Minson, Police Chief Merritt, Assistant Fire Chief Hermacinski left the regular meeting.

Council exited regular session and entered executive session at 7:57 p.m.

Council resumed regular session at 8:14 p.m.

ADJOURNMENT

Alderman Greiner made a motion, seconded by Alderman Neumann, to adjourn the regular City Council Meeting at 8:14 p.m. Roll Call Vote: All Ayes. Motion passed.
