Darin LaHood discusses local agriculture and community initiatives

Darin LaHood, a U.S. Congressman representing Illinois' 16th district, shared insights on his recent engagements through a series of tweets. The posts highlighted his meetings with local agricultural and community leaders, as well as his participation in charitable activities.

On November 25, 2024, LaHood met with members of the Woodford County Farm Bureau to discuss impending legislation affecting the agriculture sector and emphasized the importance of expanding global trade markets. He mentioned that "new trade agreements like the USMCA have benefited farmers" "This morning, I met with members of the Woodford County Farm Bureau to get their input on upcoming legislation that will impact the agriculture industry and discuss the need to expand trade markets across the globe."

Later that day, he reported meeting with Jeff Troutman, Princeville’s Village President. They discussed future projects and how his office can support these initiatives. LaHood expressed gratitude for Troutman's advocacy efforts for Princeville "It was great to meet with Princeville’s Village President - Jeff Troutman - to talk about some of their upcoming projects and my office’s work to support the area."

On November 26, 2024, LaHood acknowledged the Salvation Army's efforts in Peoria during the holiday season by volunteering as a bell ringer outside Hy-Vee. Despite cold weather conditions, he appreciated contributing to their mission "I greatly appreciate @salarmypeoria for all they do to help those in need in our community, especially around the holidays."
