Fulton County taxpayers paid $116,995 in Special County Retailers Occupation Tax in April, according to Illinois tax records.

This is an increase over the month before when $96,132 was collected.

Taxpayers in Fulton County have paid $1.3 million in Special County Retailers Occupation Tax in the last 12 months.

The Special County Retailers Occupation Tax is collected for county governments use.

Illinois is the highest taxed state in the US.

A 2021 study from Wallet Hub found Illinois taxes are 38.95 percent higher than the national average.
