Senior Josh Kirkham continued his hot start to the 2022-23 season, wrapping up the Valpo Fall Invitational with a season-best four-under 68 Tuesday as he took fourth in the field at four-under par to help Bradley Men's Golf to a sixth-place showing in the 17-team field.
Kirkham had a tough start to the day, wrapping up the suspended second round from Monday with a pair of bogey's and was two-over through the first four holes of Tuesday's final round at the par-72 Sand Creek Country Club. An eagle on the par-five, 535-yard 10th hole got Kirkham back to even in the third round, sparking a stretch where he went six-under through a 10-hole span.
The eagle and four birdies highlighted a season-best 68 as Kirkham took fourth in the field at four-under 212, which is the lowest 54-hole score by a Brave since Daniel Lensing fired a 212 at Sand Creek in 2018-19 and is tied for the seventh-best 54-hole score in school history. Kirkham, who had a first-round 69, now has six career sub-70 rounds to rank fifth in school history. Valparaiso's Anthony Delisanti claimed medalist honors at eight-under 208.
Bradley fired a three-over 291 in the final round for the second-lowest round of the day behind tournament-host and champion Valparaiso. The Braves used that season-best round to climb one spot in the final team standings to finish sixth overall at 889, two shots back of fifth-place Northern Kentucky (887) and five behind Purdue Fort Wayne (884) for fourth. Valpo claimed the team title at 848 with Loyola (882) and DePaul (883) second and third overall.
