Rep. Tim Butler (R-Springfield) has received a Champion of Manufacturing award from the Illinois Manufacturers Association (IMA).

IMA provides a Legislative Report Card each year to highlight lawmakers’ actions related to the state’s manufacturing economy with higher ratings going to those that vote in support of legislation that would bolster the economy. IMA gave Butler a 97% rating for his legislative work in 2021-22.

“Thank you Illinois Manufacturers Association,” Butler wrote in a Sept. 20 Facebook post.

IMA explained the Champion of Manufacturing awards and their ratings in a Sept. 19 Facebook post.

“Every year, the Illinois General Assembly votes on thousands of bills and amendments, many of which have an impact on the manufacturing sector,” IMA wrote in the post. “While the global pandemic curtailed much of the spring legislative session in 2020, it showcased the need for a strong and vibrant manufacturing sector in the United States. The IMA’s Manufacturing Scorecard showcases the lawmakers supportive of Illinois’ manufacturing economy and those that vote against job creators. We greatly appreciate those lawmakers who have a strong record of support for the manufacturing sector!”

This isn't the first time that Butler has been recognized for his work. In 2019, the Association of Illinois Electric Cooperatives presented Butler with the Public Service Award, according to Sangamon Sun.

“I cannot truly express how honored I am to receive this award; the same award given to two of my former bosses: Congressman LaHood and Congressman Davis,” he wrote in a Facebook post after the event, according to Sangamon Sun. “The reason I am on the House Public Utilities Committee and the House Energy & Environment Committee is to look out for the interests of those served by our state's tremendous electrical cooperatives ... and to look out for the interest of those served by our state's municipal utilities.”
