Men’s Soccer Hosts Drake in Midweek Matchup

The Bradley soccer team plays its second-straight home Missouri Valley Conference matchup with a midweek contest against Drake on Wednesday night.

GAME INFO

The longtime rivals are set to meet at Shea Stadium with a 7 p.m. kickoff on ESPN+.

ABOUT THE BULLDOGS

Drake is currently 4-1-2 on the season with a 2-0-0 conference record. The Bulldogs are unbeaten in their last five games with three-straight wins since Sept. 13. In its first two MVC games of the year, Drake earned 1-0 victories against UIC and SIUE.

AJ Franklin leads the team with 11 points and five goals through seven games of the season. Jonathan Burke has played every minute in goal with a 0.71 goals against average and .884 save percentage.

SERIES HISTORY

Bradley and Drake have met 50 times on the soccer pitch, marking BU's most played rival in school history. Overall, the Bulldogs hold a 26-19-5 advantage over Bradley since the schools first met in 1987.

Drake has won the last four meetings in the series – including the last three by just a single goal – with Bradley's last victory coming in 2019 with a 1-0 home win.

YOUTHFUL MOVEMENT

The Braves have featured a young team during the 2022 campaign. Of the 17 players to start at least one game this season, only five have been upperclassmen and only one is a senior (Pepe Mellado, who has been in the starting lineup five times but also missed three games with an injury). The sophomore class has featured eight different players starting at least one contest this year, while all four players that have started all nine games are from the class.

UP NEXT
