City of Chillicothe Marketing & Tourism Committee met Dec. 5.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

MEMBERS PRESENT: Economic Development Director Amanda Beadles, Alderperson Trish Connor, Kevin Yates, Carie McIntyre, Susan Bobbit

MEMBERS ABSENT: Mayor Hughes, Gita Talati, Jim Sniff, Sandi Levell, Denise Beattie, Ashley Hildebrant, Don White, Kylie Milliken, Joe Harper, Patty Pierson, Nancie Cassidy

Purpose:

M & T Commission – Purpose

Economic Development Director Beadles read the purpose of the commission. The purpose of the Chillicothe Area Marketing and Tourism Commission is to develop a comprehensive program designed to market the Chillicothe area and promote the growth of tourism within or near the city and submit the program to the city council for recommendation and approval. All programs shall be formulated and maintained by the use of funds received through the city's hotel/motel tax.

Report - 2022/2023 Budget Review & Hotel/Motel Revenue

Director Beadles reviewed the November budget.

Revenue budget at 52%

November Income from Economy Inn $17.62

Interest $70.17 for $219.71 total

Promotions budget at 39%

$426 Countdown to Christmas ads (CHV, LWW)

Donations budget at 12%

No change

Report - 2022 Calendar of Events

Director Beadles reviewed the 2022 Calendar of Events for December and requested 1st quarter events be sent to her.

Report - 2022-12 Message Center Update

Director Beadles presented December Message Center Updates. Committee reviewed.

SWOT Analysis Business Growth

Director Beadles presented the Business Growth plan provided by Don White. Director Beadles gave brief input. Consensus was to email to members and have them ready for input in the January meeting.

Director Beadles presented the Residential Growth plan provided by Don White. Director Beadles gave brief input. Consensus was to email to members and have them ready for input in the January meeting.

Tri-Fold Visitor Guide

Director Beadles presented the Tri-fold flyer with suggested changes to the commission. Discussion ensued. Commission asked Director Beadles to look into the hours of Carl's Bait & Tackle, if hours met criteria, then leave on. Consensus of the committee was to move forward with changes and send to ODG for printing.

Organizations update, event marketing and tourism plans

PAVCB - Absent. No report. Chamber - Absent. No report.

Historical Society - Absent. No report.

Chillicothe Park District -No report

City of Chillicothe - Director Beadles informed the commission of a Ride the rails event with a tentative Date for June 3rd, an OLLI Tour - 30 people getting an historic tour and viewing TIF changes in Historic Downtown with a tentative May date.

Three Sisters Park - Susan reported Breakfast with Santa event has been revived. She reported rentals had increased this year and a focus on increasing the current events promotion. Spring Planting the last Tuesday - Thursday in April, Summer camp music festival in May, hosting 4th of July, Boarder Collie event in July will be open to the public. Ag museum construction, Frisbee golf tournament in August.

Blue Ridge Farm - Absent. No report.

IVC-Absent. No report.

Pearce Community Center - Carrie reported a successful Breakfast with Santa event. She stated 2023 Programming will see some new programs such as Pearce Stronger and 2023 program schedules would be back to normal. There would be a High Fitness Group class and 6 new classes starting in January one of which is Strong Nation.

Retail update (Little Land of Candy, Cool Thingz) – Absent. No report.

Subcommittee - Arts & Entertainment – Absent. Amanda read report from Denise. There would be caroling at 5:30 at Geiger True Value and auditions for Romance in D January 6th at Church of Christ on Allen Road at 7pm and Saturday at noon.
