Illinois State Senator Sally Turner (R) celebrated her state being named one of 2022's top soybean producers in a Facebook post published on January 17.

"Proud to be a farm family in Illinois!" Turner wrote.

In her post, Turner also included a link to a WANDTV article reporting on an announcement made by the Illinois Soybean Association. The announcement, in part, stated that the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural Statistics Service estimates that Illinois soybean farmers raised approximately 677.25 million bushels on 10.75 million harvested acres with an average yield of 63 bushels per acre.

"I’m proud to be able to congratulate my 43,000 colleagues across the state on this announcement," said Maple Park farmer and ISA Chairman Steve Pitsick. "Illinois soybean farmers have gotten really good at making the best of whatever growing challenges confront them, making smart management decisions, and maximizing production opportunities, and 2022 was no different. We have proven once again that we know how to roll up our sleeves and put the sweat equity into producing a high-quality product and raising a record-breaking crop.”

Turner is a Beason resident who was first elected to the Illinois Senate in 2021. Her legislative experience includes serving on the Ethics Committee, as well as the Senate Higher Education Committee.
