City of Chillicothe Public Works Committee met Jan. 4.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

The public works committee on January 4, 2023, at 4:30 p.m. in the council chambers at city hall. Present: Chairman Gould, Alderperson Bredeman, Alderperson Vanbruwaene, Alderperson Sharp, Mayor Hughes, Superintendent of Public Works Sutherland, Office Manager Passage

Absent: David Horton

Chairman Gould called the meeting to order at 4:32 p.m.

PUBLIC COMMENT

Landon Dunbar, 95 Oak St. Chillicothe addressed the committee. He thanked the public works department for the clean up of the property located at 1317 First St.

PURPOSE

Budget Review 22-23 - Superintendent Sutherland reported for the month of December the expense percentages should be at 66.64% and the following expense percentages for the Month of December are as follows:

Road & Bridge - 32.72%

Motor Fuel Tax - 37.44%

Water-35.01%

Sewer-47.03%

Budget 23-24 - Superintendent Sutherland reported that he is working on the 23-24 Budget as ask that any committee member give him items for the budget. He will submit the budget by February 7. The Mayor questioned if the drainage issue at Cloverdale to river would be addressed in the budget. Superintendent Sutherland advised he would check with the City Engineer.

Drainage Improvements - Project - The drainage improvement project was moved forward as a project at the December 12 council meeting. The project is for the drainage issued on Pine street.

High Usage Waivers - Nothing to report

Lien Report - Nothing to report

Project Update - Superintendent Sutherland stated that he talked with the engineer as he was not available to attend and was asked to report that the engineer is working with the EDC Director regarding the drainage grants.

OLD BUSINESS

Update Santa Fe Well - Superintendent Sutherland advised the committee that the equipment to begin the drilling work should be here on Friday and the drilling should begin next week.

Update Chestnut Well- Superintendent Sutherland advised the committee that we are still waiting on the relief valve.

Superintendent Sutherland reported that the city was able to support the demand for water to fight the fire on Bradley Avenue.

A discussion was held regarding the water loss ratio. Alderperson Vanbruwaene recommended that all un-metered buildings be installed with a meter to help bring down the loss ratio. A discussion ensued regarding the buildings that are un-metered. Superintendent Sutherland stated that he would work on determining if meters can be installed in municipal buildings.
