City of Chillicothe Cemetery, Parks, Recreation & Beautification Committee met June 20.

Members of the Cemetery & Parks Committee met in person on June 20, 2023 at 4:32 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall.

Cemetery & Parks Committee members present at the meeting in the Council Chambers: Chairman Tim White, Alderperson Bredeman, Alderperson Connor

Cemetery & Parks Committee members absent for the meeting in the Council Chambers: None

Others in attendance in the Council Chamber: Clerk Byrnes, Superintendent Sutherland, Alderperson Sharp

PUBLIC COMMENT:

Becky Voss, 222 Sycamore Street, addressed the Committee requesting to purchasing discarded fencing on City Cemetery property. Superintendent Sutherland explained that in 2021 the City advertised and had the fencing out for sealed bids, no bids were submitted therefore costing the City money for the advertising. Mayor Hughes informed Becky he had placed a call to City Attorney Kevin Day for clarification and would let the Committee know when a decision was made.

PURPOSE:

BUDGET REVIEW:

Superintendent Sutherland informed the Committee that the budget was currently:

Parks: 4.25%

Cemetery: 5.27%

CUTRIGHT PARK VANDALISM & REPAIR

Alderperson Connor informed the committee that she had heard from Renee Beard and the playground equipment that was damaged was under warranty. Renee was reaching out to the installers for a date to repair and has not yet heard back, Chairman T. White offered to contact Renee Beard for warranty specifics.

MOFFITT PARK:

Superintendent Sutherland reported that a concrete picnic table had been turned on its side, however no damage was done to the table.

MULCH:

Chairman T. White recognized Superintendent Sutherland and his staff for the mulch placed around the City Park Stage for Chilli Days. Superintendent Sutherland updated the Committee that the mulch for Sycamore Trails Park trees was complete.

SHADEMAKERS UPDATE:

Alderperson Connor stated the 30th Annual City Beautification Awards will be held Thursday July 20, 2023 at the 2nd Thursday Market.
