With temperatures expected to climb into extreme temperatures for much of the week, please remember that City buildings are available as cooling centers. - The lobby of the Police Department, 600 SW Adams Street, is open from 9:00 am-5:00 pm.
- City of Peoria Fire Stations are also available from 7:00 am until 10:00 p.m. Peoria Fire Department Webpage Please note that in the event of a Fire-related emergency, visitors to the station will be asked to step out while staff is on a call. A list of the station locations may be found on the additional locations include:
*The Dream Center (714 Hamilton Blvd, Peoria) serves as a 24/7 cooling center for its eligible populations (the only population the Dream Center does not focus on is single men who do not currently have a child or a significant other with them, or are not otherwise part of a family unit).
*The Peoria Rescue Mission (601 SW Adams St) can be used as a cooling center 24/7 for single men, as well as during the day for anyone.
*The Esther House (6847 N. Allen Road, Peoria) can be used as a 24/7 cooling center for single women.
*Advanced Medical Transport (1718 N. Sterling, Peoria) is available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
*East Peoria Civic Plaza, 401 W Washington Street in East Peoria, is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
*EastSide Centre at 1 EastSide Drive in East Peoria, is open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
*The Salvation Army Pekin Rust Transitional Shelter at 235 Derby St, Pekin is a 24/7 cooling center for anyone.
*The Pekin Outreach Center, a day center for people experiencing homelessness, at 515 Elizabeth St in Pekin is open daily, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
