City of Pekin Fire and Police Commission met July 27.

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

Minutes of the meeting of the Fire and Police Commission held Thursday, July 27, 2023 at 8:30 a.m. in the City Hall Conference Room.

Present at the meeting: Commissioners Dennis Short, Mike Franks, Bob Jaskiewicz

Also present: Deputy Police Chief Seth Ranney, Deputy Police Chief Courtney Hutchinson, Deputy Fire Chief Tony Rendleman

Commissioner Short called the meeting to order at 8:33 a.m.

A motion was made by Commissioner Franks to approve the meeting agenda. Commissioner Short seconded the motion. All in favor.

A motion was made by Commissioner Franks to approve the June 22, 2023 meeting minutes. Commissioner Short seconded the motion. All in favor.

Departmental Reports

1. FD - Probationary Reports

All probationary personnel are doing well. One firefighter has just finished the academy and has been on regular shifts for about two weeks. The department has 8 total in paramedic classes this upcoming fall. Four are starting clinicals, four are starting their classroom work. Everyone is on track to pass their classes at this time.

2. The lateral Officer is finishing step one of their probationary period and doing well. Three Officers will graduate from the academy in August and three more will be sworn in at the end of August right before they leave for the academy.

A motion was made by Commissioner Franks to receive and file these reports. Commissioner Short seconded the motion. All in favor.

Bills

1. PD - All Purpose Polygraph, Pre-employment exams, $450.00

A motion was made by Commissioner Franks to receive and file these reports. Commissioner Short seconded the motion. All in favor.

Old Business

1. FD - Testing

After deliberation, the testing committee feels it's best to go with the CPAP for the physical test. It is believed to be in the department's best interest. The department is looking at a fall test time from the Peoria administrator. The Commissioner's will still do the written and oral exams at City Hall. Testing dates will be decided in the coming weeks. The department is looking at opening applications the 1st of September.
