State Representative Ryan Spain is teaming up with the Geneseo and Princeton Police Departments to offer a convenient and safe solution for the disposal of unwanted or expired prescription drugs. In honor of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on October 28, residents are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to properly dispose of their medications.
The initiative, organized by Rep. Spain, aims to raise awareness about the importance of responsible medication disposal and to prevent the misuse or abuse of prescription drugs. By partnering with local law enforcement agencies, the program ensures that these medications are disposed of safely and securely.
"We recognize the need for a safe and convenient way to dispose of prescription drugs. By collaborating with the Geneseo and Princeton Police Departments, we are able to provide a solution that benefits both the community and the environment," said Rep. Spain.
The drop-off events will take place on Saturday, October 28. The Geneseo Police Department Lobby, located at 119 S Oakwood Ave, Geneseo, IL 61254, will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Princeton Police Department, situated at 605 Elm Place, Princeton, IL 61356, will be accepting medications from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Residents are reminded to bring only accepted medications, which include prescription medications, pet medications, and vitamins. It is important to note that needles, illegal drugs, and liquids will not be accepted.
The collaboration between Rep. Spain and the local police departments highlights the commitment to public safety and the well-being of the community. The event provides an opportunity for individuals to dispose of their prescription drugs in a responsible manner, reducing the risk of accidental ingestion or diversion.
As Rep. Spain stated, "We are dedicated to ensuring that prescription drugs are disposed of properly and do not end up in the wrong hands. By working together with our local police departments, we can make a positive impact on our community's health and safety."
Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this free service and participate in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on October 28. By properly disposing of unwanted medications, we can all contribute to a safer and healthier community.
