This week, we are honoring veterans in our district. Today’s Veteran Spotlight is Terry Stewart.

Terry Stewart, a native of Galva, served in the Marine Corps from 1993-1997.

"Cpl. Stewart worked as a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician in the Marines, learning life and job skills he still uses today," said a spokesperson for Rep. Weaver's office.

Cpl. Stewart said he has always been patriotic and joined the Marines to do something different and learn a trade for life.

"I wanted to do something different and I wanted to learn a trade that I could use for the rest of my life," Cpl. Stewart said.

During his time in the Marines, Cpl. Stewart was stationed at Camp Pendleton in California and also served overseas in Kuwait.

"Cpl. Stewart's most vivid memories as a serviceman came in Kuwait, where he met many people and saw the difficult conditions they lived through," the spokesperson added.

Cpl. Stewart is proud of his son Zach, who has also joined the Marine Corps.

"I am really proud of my son for following in my footsteps and joining the Marine Corps," Cpl. Stewart said.

After spending time in California, Cpl. Stewart is back home in Illinois and currently resides in Dahinda.

"When my son is home, we enjoy our time visiting a local American Legion for breakfast and listening to other veterans' stories," Cpl. Stewart shared.

In conclusion, Terry Stewart, a Marine Corps veteran, is being honored in Rep. Weaver's Local Veteran Spotlight. Cpl. Stewart's time in the Marines provided him with valuable skills that he continues to use today. He is proud of his son, who has also joined the Marine Corps, and together they enjoy spending time at a local American Legion, listening to other veterans' stories.
