City of Pekin Fire and Police Commission met Oct. 26.

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

Minutes of the meeting of the Fire and Police Commission held Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 8:30 a.m. in the City Hall Conference Room.

Present at the meeting: Commissioners Dennis Short, Ed Mulvey, Bob Jaskiewicz

Also present: Police Chief John Dossey, Deputy Police Chief Seth Ranney, Deputy Police Chief Courtney Hutchinson, Deputy Fire Chief Tony Rendleman

Commissioner Short called the meeting to order at 8:31 a.m.

A motion was made by Commissioner Jaskiewicz to approve the meeting agenda. Commissioner Mulvey seconded the motion. All in favor.

A motion was made by Commissioner Mulvey to approve the September 28, 2023 meeting minutes. Commissioner Jaskiewicz seconded the motion. All in favor.

Departmental Reports

1. FD - Probationary Reports

The department currently one has one Firefighter left on probation and he is doing well.

2. PD Probationary Reports

Three Officers are in the Police Academy and doing well. Three are on probation and in step 2, all are doing well. A lateral hire will be started on November 6th. Deputy Chief Ranney will be appointed and sworn in as the new Police Chief on November 6th, 2023.

A motion was made by Commissioner Mulvey to receive and file these reports. Commissioner Jaskiewicz seconded the motion. All in favor.

Bills

1. FD - Stanard, Pre-employment psych exam, $450.00

2. PD - All Purpose Polygraph, Pre-employment exam, $150.

3. PD - IWIRC, Pre-employment physical exam, $806.62

A motion was made by Commissioner Mulvey to receive and file these reports. Commissioner Jaskiewicz seconded the motion. All in favor.

Old Business

1. FD - Fire Department Original Appointment testing will take place on Saturday, October 28 at City Hall. There are currently 25 applicants.

2. PD - Lieutenant testing will take place on Saturday, November 4th, at City Hall. Four Officers are expected to test.

3. PD Sergeant testing is expected to take place in January. Information will be sent out as it gets closer to the testing date.
