Rep. Weaver has announced that AFE Awareness Day will be held on March 27, shedding light on the rare but life-threatening medical complication known as Amniotic Fluid Embolism (AFE). Weaver emphasized the importance of raising awareness for AFE to enable early recognition and prompt intervention, ultimately improving outcomes for mothers and babies.

Highlighting the gravity of the situation, Weaver noted, "Many healthcare staff who encounter a patient with AFE will likely have no actual AFE patient care experience and limited practice in how to respond." This underscores the critical need for education and support in dealing with AFE cases.

Commending the efforts of the AFE Foundation in supporting healthcare workers and educating them on AFEs, Weaver stated, "They offer many resources geared toward doctors and nurses and that is where lives are saved." However, Weaver also pointed out the necessity of funding to further enhance education, research, and support for this cause.

For those interested in learning more about AFE and supporting the cause, Weaver directed individuals to visit the Amniotic Fluid Embolism Foundation website at afesupport.org.
