The city of Peoria, in collaboration with various organizations, is gearing up to host the Equity in Procurement Expo on Thursday, March 28, 2024. The event, set to take place at the Peoria Civic Center, aims to provide valuable information to minority-owned businesses regarding procurement processes.

Attendees at the expo will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the City’s procurement procedures, sign up with the City’s Minority and Women-Owned Business Registry, and engage with other government agencies. In addition to informative sessions, the event will offer light refreshments and free parking for guests.

Among the supporters and participants of the expo are the Peoria NAACP, the Minority Business Development Center, the Illinois State Black Chamber of Commerce, and several other key organizations. Representatives from various government entities such as Peoria County, Peoria Public Schools, and the Greater Peoria Sanitary District will also be present to interact with attendees.

Mayor Ali expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming event, highlighting its significance for minority business owners. He stated, "This is a wonderful opportunity for minority business owners to learn more about the government procurement process and opportunities to do business with the city and other government entities. This event aims to foster diversity, increase economic empowerment, and grow local businesses within our community."

To participate in the Equity in Procurement Expo, registration is encouraged. Interested individuals can visit the Equal Opportunity Office page to secure their spot at the event.
