Rep. Weaver: ISP Warning Residents of Phone Scams

Representative Weaver has issued a warning to residents regarding a recent phone scam in Illinois. According to Weaver, "ISP special agents will not make cold calls requesting personal or financial information; or ask you to confirm personal or financial information."

The Illinois State Police is cautioning the public about impersonators who are posing as ISP investigators. In a statement, the ISP emphasized the importance of verifying the identity of callers claiming to be ISP representatives. The agency advised residents to "ask for the caller’s name, badge number, and phone number; and then hang up" if they suspect fraudulent activity.
