The HOPE Chest in Pekin will hold a Back to School Backpack Distribution event on Saturday, August 3, at its Pantry location, 1416 N. 8th Street, Pekin. They will distribute 600 backpacks, each filled with grade-appropriate supplies, to area children.
The event begins at 9 a.m. and will continue until supplies run out. This giveaway is made possible by the HOPE Chest, New Beginnings Church of Tremont, Tazwood, the Tremont Apostolic Church, and other donors.
Children must be present to receive a backpack and pick out the school supplies themselves. They must also be accompanied by an adult. Each student will receive a coupon for ten free clothing items from the HOPE Chest. Additionally, Des the barber will be on-site to provide free haircuts to students.
