Peoria teens charged for armed robbery at McDonald's

August 8, 2024, Peoria, IL – The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office has charged a 14 and 15-year-old with armed robbery following an incident at a central Peoria McDonald’s on Wednesday morning. During today's detention hearing, both teenagers were ordered to remain in custody at the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center.

Around 10 am on August 7, police responded to an armed robbery call at 2205 N. Knoxville Avenue. Witnesses reported that two male teenagers entered the establishment. One of them instructed the restaurant manager to empty the register into his bookbag while the other pointed a shotgun at the manager. As the business manager guided staff to safety, one of the boys seized the register drawer containing $215 and fled. Both teens were apprehended shortly after. The firearm, register, and cash were recovered. During police interviews, one of the teens admitted to robbing the business and discarding the shotgun.
