The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) has secured a new professional licensing system for individuals whose careers require a license to work in Illinois.

The new system aims to enhance government transparency, featuring a user-friendly interface with improved communications. It will streamline the review process of license applications and fees. Prospective licensees will receive electronic notifications when applications are received, reviewed, and licenses are issued by the Department.

On Monday, August 12, IDFPR will make the following applications for professional licensure available online for the first time:

- Licensed Social Worker (LSW)

- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)

- Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)

- Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC)

IDFPR will announce further steps related to the new licensing system as they become available. More information about professional licensing in Illinois can be found on IDFPR’s website: idfpr.illinois.gov.
